The Lurking Dangers of Mystic Falls

The plots always seem to get bigger and better when dealing with vampires, witches and wolves, oh my!

Welcome back, my young TV watchers! I hope you like blood, chaos, adventure, revenge, and vampires! This week’s post is about The Vampire Diaries. Have you seen it? Heard of it? Well you better start watching it, because it is the NEW hot thing.

Elena, the main character, was just a regular hometown girl living in Mystic Falls. She had parents who loved her, a darling bratty brother, and girlfriends as close as sisters. Of course she was a popular cheerleader, dating the quarterback, Matt. Life could not be any more perfect. But as we all know good things must come to an end, and we have to wake up one day and breathe in the dangerous fresh air of reality. One night Elena and her parents were crossing Wickery Bridge when their car drove off the side and plunged into the water. At that moment, if this were a realistic TV show, Elena and her parents would have drowned tragically. Instead Elena is miraculously saved and is brought to the hospital by a certain someone who’s name rhymes with Jeffen. Yes, it was Stefan, the mysterious, serious, romantic who saved Elena. Stefan, who happens to be a blood-sucking demon, better known as a hot, adventurous, danger-seeking vampire.

A lot of you would probably say this is a copy of Twilight or just some other vampire movie. Well, it is NOT. It is so much more, and those of you who have watched the series would understand. The setting is a small town just like Forks, but the plot, characters, and myths that come to life are much different, and in my opinion better. It starts off with Elena discovering that Stefan is a vampire, which becomes a challenge for him to win Elena’s trust back. Then we are introduced to Damon, Stefan's hot older brother, who’s the more normal, fun, humorous, risk-taking vampire. Damon is madly in love with the selfish, dangerous vampire Katherine. Katherine we learn, is the reason Stefan and Damon became vampires. She had Damon hooked on her finger and compelled Stefan to love her...or so he thinks. Katherine was running away from a certain someone and planned to take Stefan and Damon with her, but she has to go into hiding when the townspeople discovers vampires living amongst them. The townspeople take action and burn many of the local vampires in a tomb. Katherine has her plan to keep herself alive, while Damon had his own plan. Things get a little complicated though, when their plans clash.

Like I said, the problems get bigger and better! I could go on and on talking about the plot and personalities, but I like the plan of leaving you with no choice but to discover the awesomeness of The Vampire Diaries. Take my advice and WATCH it on Netflix or on the CW Network channel. Those of you who do watch The Vampire Diaries, who are you? Team Stelena or Delena?

Till our next meeting, my TV buddies!

Pretty Little Liars

Welcome back sugar lollipops! Today I will be talking even more about “Pretty Little Liars.” For those of you who haven’t yet watched it or haven’t seen all episodes, especially the beginning. You're definitely going to want to read this. We will be getting to know the characters, talking about the bumps in the road, the failures, the successes, the dangers, the shockers, and more!

This all takes place in Rosewood, where secrets are kept behind closed doors and dirty dangers are hidden behind sunglasses and plastered makeup. Our characters Aria, Emily, Hannah, and Spencer are girls with ugly secrets involuntarily, which means Alison is the reason for all of their misery. Aria moves back from Iceland and hooks up with a guy named Ezra Fitz at a bar who shockingly is her new English teacher. Instead of ending things right then and there, they continue to see each other, risking jail time and public humiliation. Ezra isn’t the only teacher hooking up with a student. Aria’s fathers seems to be walking in the same footsteps to only difference is he is married with two kids, and he has a lot more to lose. Of course when Aria caught her dad making out with one of his students in his car the sneaky conniving Alison was there to witness it as well. Next we have Hannah, the “it girl” with the perfect boyfriend, outfits, hair, face, but not so perfect life. Hannah’s dad leaves his wife and daughter for another woman with another daughter sending Hannah and her mom down dark roads of poverty and depression. As Hannah’s mom struggles to pay for rent, food, clothes, and other stuff, Hannah takes on a jail risking talent; she starts to steal clothes and jewelry from stores with her sidekick Mona, a recent victim on Alison’s list. Sooner or later Hannah gets caught and her mother does some risky things to protect her. Before Hannah became an It Girl she was a heavy girl. Alison taught her a dangerous way to get skinny; she turned her bulimic and used her weight to taunt her constantly and make her feel small and insecure.

Now we have Emily who lives the perfect life; she lives very wealthy, is the star on her swim team, and has the perfect boyfriend too, but Emily just so happens to be gay. She was in love with Alison, which Alison used to her advantage to torment Emily and use her as her personal bulldog. Now Emily is accepting to being gay but she has the pressure of her parents who frown upon such things. Lastly Spencer, the only person who could ever stand up to Alison and make her feel like she wasn't so powerful anymore. Alison and Spencer were like cats fighting over a ball of yarn; they went after the same things, like sports, highest grades, and boys. The particular boy they both really liked that has a huge impact on the rest of the series is Ian Thomas, also known as Melissa, spencer’s sister’s boyfriend. Alison quiet as a mouse catches Spencer and Ian kissing and threatens to tell Melissa. Spencer, being the competitive girl that she is, threatens to tell about the “Jenna thing.”

Now knowing all of this about our lovely characters I should have you intrigued and hooked. After discovering that Alison is gone, after a sleepover that resulted in heated moments and confusion the girls drift apart for the rest of the year. But they are reunited when police discover Allison's dead body. The girls find out that they are being tormented by the same person: A. Knowing this they become more aware of what to look out for. They narrow down the person who killed Alison and the person hiding under the cover of A to Jenna and Toby, which has a change in results because charges and evidence drops on Toby and Jenna. Next they think it’s Ian Thomas and they go to extreme measures to get proof and evidence on him, only to find that he wasn’t A and he didn’t kill Alison. A Lot of other people are accused of being A and killing Alison as well. Wondering who they are? Watch the series then!
Till we meet again my candy canes...
